- Click on ‘Settings’ under ‘Shopify Admin’.

- Tap on ‘Payments’.

- Search for the section of ‘Payment Authorization’.

- Tap on ‘Manually capture payment for orders’.

- Click on ‘Save’.

Generally, it takes seven days for Shopify to clear the authorization. You can use a third-party payment gateway for a longer duration!

 

Step-3) Creating the Template for Pre Order Product Page.

You have to change the ‘Add to cart’ button for pre order items! It is possible by creating a new product template as below;

- Under the ‘Shopify.admin’ tap on ‘Online Store’, and click on ‘Themes’.

- Choose the theme you like to edit and tap on ‘Actions’. Further, click on ‘Edit Code’.

- Go to ‘Templates directory’ and click on ‘Add a new Template’.

- Choose the dropdown menu and select the ‘Product’,

- You can give a name to the template as ‘Pre-order’.

- Tap on ‘Create Template’. A code editor will open with a file named ‘pre-order.liquidtemplate’.

Change the code ‘{% section ‘product-template’ %}’ to ‘{% section ‘product-pre-order-template’ %}’ and Save it!

 

Add a new section from the Section directory. In the given field, enter product-pre-order-template.

Tap on Create Section. It will open the code editor. You can empty the file by deleting all the defaults.

Click on product-template.liquid from the Section Directory. Copy every content and paste to the file product-pre-order-template.liquid.

Find the button text for ‘Add to cart’ in the file product-pre-order-template.liquid and do the following changes in it;

Find the code ‘<span id=”AddToCartText”>{{ ‘products.product.add_to_cart’ | t }}</span>’. Alter it to ‘<span id=”AddToCartText”>{{ ‘Pre-order’ | json | remove: ‘”‘ }}</span>’

You can also find ‘addToCart: {{ ‘products.product.add_to_cart’ | t | json }}’ and edit it to ‘addToCart: {{ ‘Pre-order’ | json }}’

Save all the changes!

 

Step-4) Link Template with a Product.

You need to go under Shopify admin and tap on Products.

Find the product for what you want to make a pre-order available, and Click on it.

Under the section of Theme Templates, alter the products to product.pre-order and tap on Save.

 

Step-5) Change the Inventory Levels.

You can edit the product’s inventory level with the amount of inventory as 0. Further, you want the clients to buy it in the form of pre-orders. You can use the below steps;

- Click Products under the ‘Shopify admin’ section.

- Select the product by clicking on its name that you want to make active for pre-order.

- Tap on ‘Edit’, and click on ‘Allow customers to purchase this product when it’s out of stock’.

- Save the changes!
